about in the Pocket
This band was a long time in the making. Guitarist Mike McIntosh and harmonica player Tim Moyer first came together in 1984, and quickly found the the blues could be more than I-IV-Vs in E. They quickly made a hit at Austin open mics and coffee houses with their blend of Mike's original compositions and classic blues covers like Billie Holiday's "God Bless the Child."

The two came back together in 2005 when Tim returned to Austin and joined a project that was already underway that included Mike and drummer and vocalist Damon Brown. The band quickly headed in the direction of covering more jazz standards, branching from heavily blues-inflenced tunes like "Chitlins con Carne" to classics like "Autumn Leaves."

The band's repertoire now includes a number of bossa/samba pieces like the classic "Girl from Ipanema" and "Manha de Carnival," as well as songs made timeless by folks like Frank Sinatra, including "One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)."

In the Pocket performs an eclectic blend of standard, bossa, and blues-infused jazz pieces at a number of private and public venues in and around Austin, Texas. They are available for club and restaurant entertainment as well as bookings for private parties, wedding receptions and corporate events.
